Inter will be back on the field tomorrow, after the last stop for the 2019 national teams. From here to the end of the year, we will no longer stop, and compared to what we did two weeks ago, the calendar gives us some respite. But it is only apparent.
IMPROVE AGAIN? – Thirteen points between September and October, sixteen between October and November. This is the performance of Inter , between Serie A and Champions League , in the two blocks of matches between the stops for the national teams. The first saw four victories, a draw and two defeats, the second five successes, the same with Parma and the Dortmund collapse. Also this time the calendar foresees seven matches, five of the championship and two of cup, doing better would make it possible to close 2019 to perfection. Certainly a clear path (two victories) in the Champions League would be the maximum: it would mean qualifying for the second round regardless of the results of the others.
MORE TIME, MORE VALUE – As in the previous two blocks, there are seven games, but diluted in more time: four weeks instead of three. This means that Antonio Conte will have more chances to prepare the team, a great advantage given what was said by the same coach in the last month (and what we saw on the pitch, including injuries and fatigue). The flip side of the coin is however represented by the fact that they will almost all be challenges from inside or outside, starting with the Turin-Inter match tomorrow. The calendar includes two trips to start again, because then there will be Slavia Praga-Inter on Wednesday at 9pm, a match to be won yes or yes to stay in the Champions League: losing would also put third place at risk.
LAST MONTH – In December, if nothing else, the calendar gives the advantage of four home games out of five. It starts from Inter-SPAL on Sunday 1 at 3 pm, then five days to prepare for the next challenge, Inter-Roma on 6 at 8.45 pm. It is played on Friday, because then the Nerazzurri will have the match (hopefully) decisive for the Champions League: Inter-Barcelona Tuesday 10 to 21. The last trip is Sunday 15 at 8.45 pm, Fiorentina-Inter , then complete the year Inter -Genoa Saturday 21st at 18.00 . Compared to the last two years, it is not played during the holidays: stop for Christmas and New Year, return to the field on 5 or 6 January with Napoli-Inter (calendar yet to be defined).
